A House of Prayer

The Pastoral Structure In The Coign Church

The fellowship and meetings of our Neighbourhood Groups are an essential part of our strategy for pastoral care. They are our first line of basic care through “one-anothering” and for leading and pastoring members into radical discipleship and lifestyle evangelism.  To oversee our Neighbourhood Groups we have allocated the total membership into four broadly geographic Pastorates, each overseen by a Pastorate Leader, assisted by his wife, Cluster Leaders and Neighbourhood Group Leaders.

These four couples are:

Dean & Ros Guy
West Woking Pastorate
Dean and Ros have been members of the Coign Church since 1997. They consider it great being part of a dynamic and diverse community of people. They have 3 sons, Ben 22, Zac 20 and Nathan 14. Ros works as a ward auxillary in a Veterinary Hospital and Dean for a local Architectural Practice.
Anything to do with Music or Sport ticks Dean’s box and Ros loves working with animals, particularly training dogs as guide or assistance dogs.

They now have two grown up children, one grandchild with another on its way! Sally has been involved with children’s work, such as Key Club, after school club, Coign Kids and Scat. Tony has had various leadership roles at the Coign firstly with the Youth, and then with Neighbourhood Groups as well as leading the Beta course.
David & Tina Maskell
Horsell & Kilnbridge Pastorate
David & Tina have been involved in Group Leadership since 1988. They were married at the Coign Church 23 years ago and have two teenage daughters. David is part of the full time leadership team with responsibility for Pastoral Care plus oversight of a number of the church’s ministries. Tina is a teacher, specialising in children with learning difficulties, and leads the Sunday Crèche Team.

John & Sheila Banks
East Woking Pastorate
John & Sheila have been members of The Coign Church since 1983. Since their marriage in 2001 and retirement from employment both have continued to be involved in many aspects of church life. This includes debt advice and prison work. Sheila helps run Genesis, for those with special needs children. Together they lead a Neighbourhood Group. Inheriting each other’s families gives them a total of 8 grandchildren

In addition, in his role as Youth Leader, Nathan Silvester takes pastoral responsibility for our youth.  Nathan is assisted by a team of Youth Leaders.
