The Coign has come a long way since the church began in the living room of a house on Goldsworth Road in the 19th Century!
Beginning life as Woking Baptist Church, the church was transformed by the move of the Holy Spirit in the 1960s & 70s. The rediscovery of the baptism in the Holy Spirit brought rapid growth, and in 1977 we moved to our current building and renamed ourselves The Coign Church. More recently, our growing numbers have led us to move our Sunday meetings to the larger HG Wells Centre in Woking town centre.
Today we are a thriving community of about 600 adult members, over 200 children, and a growing number of visitors and friends who join us each week. We come from all ages, backgrounds and cultures, joined together by our love for Jesus and the joy of being God's children through our faith in Him.
The Coign is an independent church which is part of the Newfrontiers network of churches and affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance. Although our vision is to transform Woking and the local area with the love and power of God, we also have a wider influence in mission worldwide, with close links to a growing number of churches around the world.
